Friends,
We are very proud to announce that the 2011 Dear Jack Benefit raised over $35,000 for the Dear Jack Foundation (DJF). We can’t say thanks enough to all of you who came out and continue to support DJF. We’d also like to thank Fun. and William Beckett.
Looking back at 2011 gives us a great sense of accomplishment. We participated in our second summer on the Warped Tour, approached $500,000 in lifetime fundraising for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light the Night Walks, and held the Second Annual DJF Concert. We were been able to support some amazing research hospitals, young adult cancer camps and programs, as well as other organizations like LLS. What we’ve failed to mention to date though is that the Dear Jack Foundation is now officially a fully operational 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
With this transition comes a greater freedom in our ability to not only raise money, but also to support our mission in the fight against young adult cancer. It also carries a greater responsibility to make sure we run Dear Jack as efficiently and effectively as possible. We will continue to be 100% volunteer run so that the highest possible percentage of money raised can be put towards research and life initiative platforms.
Throughout the year you’ll begin start to see some changes, starting with the website and how you can donate to DJF. We’ll have more tools for you to be able to spread the mission of DJF to others. We’ll also have better capacities to communicate with you, the supporters that make this all possible. So stay tuned, 2012 is going to be great.
Happy New Year and thank you again for supporting Dear Jack Foundation.
Sincerely,
Steve Smith
Executive Director
